We're less than an hour from the birth of my first son, Brandon, 16 years ago.

At 1:07am, as a bomb went off at the Atlanta Olympics, a girl, just two weeks over 18, gave birth to the child that would save her life. Her parents were disappointed in her decision, but they didn't know the things she was doing. They had no idea she had a drug problem and was close to dropping out of school because she just didn't care about anything anymore. She wanted to be high and party her life away with the most important boy she'd ever met. Her soulmate...

He loved her and was going to be by her side forever, but almost missed the birth of his only child. Her mother would have liked that, but he made it because even though she refused to go get him, he had people that cared about him, even when his own family didn't.

He didn't stick around long, but that was because eventually she grew up and he didn't. She's reminded every day of him because his son might as well be his twin. Every day she wonders if he's ok, not knowing if he's well or not, every day stuck in the "what if" of life, waiting on the eventual call of his demise....

Some day that call will come, until then, she will continue to wait, hoping that her son has learned not to be like his father... That he has been raised better than that....

Glad you are okay and back online. I wondered if you have been okay. I'm sure there is a lot that has happened but you are better off living life more and posting less.
