560 Miles and 8 Hours....

of my life that I'll never get back...... Driving back and forth to the soccer tournament on Saturday and Sunday just to not do well enough to make the finals on Monday pretty much sucked.... Oh well, at least I got to be productive yesterday around the house. The things we do for our kids.... To make it worse, Gavin cried the whole way home on Saturday night because last weekend he pulled a groin muscle and two games in one day was just too much for him with the injury. The two games he played on Sunday didn't make it any better.

ANYWAYS..... What an absolutely weird weekend.... Friday night we hood partied down the street, but somehow everyone ended up drunk by 10:00 and I was at home passed out in bed by 10:30. That was ok though because I had to leave for Dayton at 7:00 Saturday morning.

Saturday pretty much sucked all day long. We had games at 9:15 and 6:00. Yes, 6pm. I drove home in between games because spending the day with Gavin was far more likely to cost more than the half tank of gas it took to commute back and forth. I actually got home around 11:30 and was able to get a bunch of stuff done for the party, which was nice. Went back to Dayton and played our 6:00 game and then hauled ass back to Columbus because I had the End of the Summer Party going on. We didn't get back into town until almost 8:30 and people were already congregating at April's house. As soon as I walked in, Tara was there with her head on a stick. Here he is:
Here's mine with the Ape head and Gavin being stupid:
Yeah, he's got a nice mullet and you can't see that people decided it would be funny to stick a cigarette in his mouth. The head, not the kid...
There was a lot going on there for a minute. People wandering in, food getting set out, me changing clothes.... I had forgotten that last weekend, I asked Mike, April's brother, to bring his guitar so that he could play for us. I'm a sucker for a man that can play the guitar! All the sudden I walk outside and there he is setting up his amp and getting ready to play. Awesome, live music in my back yard. Making it slightly better was that another neighbor came down with his guitar and amp and they jammed for about 2 hours. I was pretty certain that the cops were going to be called, but in the end, that wasn't the reason they came....
Here's a pic of the boys jammin:
We had a nice fire going and everyone was having a good time. Non hood regulars Matt & LaLa came and they're always a hoot. Matt thought it would be fun to stick hot fire poker sticks into the foam heads and since he made a hole in the mouth and all, he decided to violate the hole.

Then, I don't remember who's brilliant idea it was, but we had some girls on trampoline time. Which, just a side note here, my trampoline is a death trap, there's about a 3 foot hole in the one side where the springs are missing, so for drunk people it's a little more than dangerous.

That's me hanging onto the net for dear life. I almost squished Tara by falling onto her.

And yes, I do wear my sunglasses at night...

And that's my big ass climbing through the hole to get back on because it was way less work than climbing up where you were supposed to get on.

This was more than amusing to everyone involved..... We'll wrap up part one there, I gotta run to lunch and this is getting long with all the pictures....

Man, sounds like a great weekend, aside from all that road-trippin' to Dayton. I could've used a party like that.

Still waiting for my, ahem, *special* pictures, btw...
